Rotarian Jim Dove, Executive Director of the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC), welcomes his staff member Burke Walker (left), Director of Local Government Services, and Susan Chaisson (right), President of the Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm Foundation, Inc. to its October meeting in Jefferson.
The NEGRC recently received a 2011 “Innovation Award” from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO)for its efforts in assisting the Farm in developing an interpretative program. The interpretative program is intended to increase tourism and promote economic-development regionally.
Chaisson spoke to the Rotary Club of Jefferson about the Farm’s history, the creation of the Foundation, and efforts to preserve one of the state’s most significant historic farms.
