We are pleased to announce that the National Park Service’s Teaching with Historic Places (TwHP) program has launched its 146th lesson plan, The Shields-Ethridge Farm: The End of a Way of Life.
In this lesson, students investigate sharecropping as a way of life in upland Georgia during the early 20th century and examine the efforts of one farm owner to diversify as market fluctuation and urbanization threatened that life.
The lesson is currently featured on the TwHP homepage. For a direct link, go to http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/twhp/wwwlps/lessons/145shieldsethridge/145shieldsethridge.htm.
