2009
Funding was provided to develop, produce and install a heritage-interpretive program at the Shields Ethridge Farm. The program involves two main components: wayside interpretive exhibits and website development.
The development of the waysides includes historical research of the content, design, layout, production and installation.
The website will include an interactive map displaying wayside locations to encourage self-guided tours, interpretive information and promotional visitation information. The interactive map is available from Apple’s iTunes for use on a iPhone or iTouch. The site will be coordinated and linked to other Jackson County attractions.
The Appalachain Regional Commission is a federal-state partnership that works for sustainable community and economic development in Appalachia. For more information about ARC visit the ARC website.
